SA Medical Heritage Society August Meeting
Last month's meeting was unfortunately cancelled at short notice due to covid, but it is hoped that a meeting can go ahead on 26 August, with Dr. James Muecke as guest speaker.

Martindale Hall for the people
The latest news from the Protect our Heritage Alliance is on a Bill recently introduced into Parliament which could lead to this historic building being privatised. The POHA is urging concerned parties to write to the legislative council in opposition of the bill.

Unley Museum: 1 5 0
From 21 August to 18 December 2021, Unley museum is hosting an exhibition to celebrate the city's 150th anniversary.

Flinders History Research Seminars
Seminars for semester 2 are now on, with the next being held on August 20: 'I, of the storm: Stories from the Other Pandemic' by Associate professor Paul Sendziuk, University of Adelaide.
Seminars are held Fridays, 11.15am - 12.30pm. Seminars will be held in a mixed format, both in-person with social distancing observed as well as online.

150 year old cottage proposed for demolition
With the Liberal Government's Planning and Design Code coming into force in March, it has become easier to argue for demolition of heritage places based on cost of repair. An early example of this is a 159 year old stone cottage in Willunga. The Protect Our Heritage Alliance is urging concerned community members to register their opposition to the demolition through the Plan SA website here.

Expressions of Interest: Aboriginal Reference Group
State Records and the State Library of South Australia are calling for expressions of interest from members of the South Australian Aboriginal community to join a joint Aboriginal Reference Group. The group will provide feedback and advice on services, activities, and policies of State Records and the State Library relating to Aboriginal people and culture.

Bernadette Bean SA Records Management Service Excellence Award Winners
In honour of the late Bernadette Bean, this annual SA award recognises and celebrates records management service excellence. This year's winners are Terry Seery, Manager Health Information Services, and Tanya Reid, Manager Medical Records, Central Adelaide Local Health Network.
