Labour History SA Meetings and Moratorium
16 August - Annual General Meeting
Election of Executive for 2020/21. Guest speakers Jack Crawford and Pamela Rajkowski will be speaking on the history of the Afghan and Aboriginal workers on the SA railways.

IPAN and LHSA Moratorium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of opposition to the Vietnam War.

Labour History Society General meeting on the theme of the formation of the Communist Party of Australia in 1920.
All meetings will be held at the Box Factory, Regent Street North, commencing at 2pm.

The Annual General Meeting for the SA branch will be held on Wednesday 26 August, 6pm, at the Public Schools Club, 207 East Terrace. Further details will be forthcoming.

The South Australian Heritage Council has produced a short video that celebrates South Australia's heritage places.

History Seminar series
Flinders University's History Seminar Series is progressing, held each Friday from 11.15am to 12.30 in room SSS149. Up to 45 are allowed to attend, in accordance with latest COVID-19 information.
This week's seminar is by Jade Hastings on power imbalances between female domestic servants and their employers in South Australian courts, 1836-1880.

SA Museum: McMahon Collection of Aboriginal Art
The McMahon collection, which includes critical works from some of the finest Ngaanyatjarra artists, has been donated to the South Australian Museum. The paintings are on display in a free exhibition until 15 November.

The South Australian Museum has announced its first podcast series, Collection Stories. Each episode will feature collection managers and researchers sharing stories on the objects that form the Museum's collection. The first episode will be released for download 21 August, 12pm.

Vickers Vimy interactive trail
Commissioned in 2019, the interactive trail at Adelaide Airport tells the story of the great air race from England to Australia in 1919.

Victory in the Pacific Day: 75th Anniversary
15 August marks the anniversary of the day Emperor Hirohito of Japan publicly announced Japan's unconditional surrender to the Allies, ending the Second World War. In Australia, the day was named 'Victory in the Pacific Day'.
The Australian War Memorial has curated a range of items to mark the anniversary.
